Learn How To Detox To Help Boost Your Weight Loss Program
Sunday, December 30th, 2007Before you begin a weight loss program or make your healthy lifestyle changes, use this focal point in your life to embark on a total body detox program - it’s great way to start your new life with vigour. Learning how to detox the right way can begin the process of eliminating the toxins embedded deep within your organs and skin tissues, left behind by processed foods and pharmaceutical residues.
Most important, however, it is a key means of preventing disease and an opportunity to rest and revitalize the body. As a preventative tool, it is advised to detox at least two or three times annually, depending on the nature of the detox plan used. Years of experience with detoxification has convinced me that a good detox program should be no less than three days.
A three day detox will have a very beneficial impact on removing toxins, mucous and arterial sludge from your system, but if you have a chronic condition of any form, you may want to hold out for a 7 day detox. The only drawback being that you’ll probably need a little more will power to keep it up for the full 7 days - though you’ll be glad you did when you finish. Either way, here’s a list of some of the benefits you can expect to enjoy after a thorough cleansing.
increased mental clarity - a clean smelling body as the digestive tract is cleared of accumulated waste - a clearer respiratory tract as excess mucous is eliminated - a purer bloodstream, good functioning liver and kidney - glowing skin and complexion - better sleep - less dependency on habit-forming drugs such as caffeine, nicotine and alcohol - reduced stomach bulge and size - more energy for the lethargic person
If you’re able to run with the 7 day detox, these benefits will be more pronounced and noticeable.
How To Prepare For a Detox Program
If you eat a lot of red meat and dairy products, it’s a good idea to go on a 3 day vegetarian diet before your start any detox program. Edible seeds, unsalted nut and various beans can provide all the protein you need, along with various soy products including soy milk. If there’s anything you’re unsure about you should check with your physician or nutritionist first.
The How To’s Of Detoxing
While you’re on the detox program you should not consume any cooked food or dairy products. Don’t drink tap water - instead either use purified water, coconut water or fit a quality water filter to your drinking water system.
Eat only locally produced fruits and veg that are in season - fruits grown out of season are usually force grown and likely contain lots of preservatives which were fed to the trees during growing. Also, no sweeteners - sugar cane or cane juice is OK.
Check out the recipe below for Green Juice - you should aim to drink at least one glass of this juice every day. It contains a plethora of vital life enhancing nutrients including calcium, iron, vitamin C, folic acid, and is packed with cancer fighting antioxidants and phyto nutrients.
Them there’s aloe vera and what I call the Immune Booster. These are optional, but will add an extra punch to your detox program. Aloe vera is known the world over for its amazing health giving properties. The best time to take it is last thing at night before going to bed.
The Immune Booster is made up from fresh orange juice with garlic blended (or juiced) in. You can also add guava or passion fruit to the mix to increase the potency.
Green Juice.
Blend together and strain - coconut water, cucumber, lime juice, fresh ginger, and anything green such as parsley, lettuce, pakchoy, callaloo, celery, string beans, okra, broccoli, etc.
It doesn’t really matter which vegetables you use, just so long as the juice you create is definitely green. Try a few experiments to find a flavour you like. A good tip to enhance the taste is to use carrot juice instead of coconut water. To make the aloe juice, juice a grapefruit or orange and add a third of an aloe leaf - peeled first.
